Datacenter United has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing the company among the top 5% of organisations assessed worldwide for sustainability performance.

With an overall score of 82/100, Datacenter United ranks in the 96th percentile globally. The EcoVadis scorecard was published on 8 June 2026.

A recognition of responsible growth

EcoVadis is one of the world’s most recognised sustainability assessment platforms. Its methodology evaluates companies across several key areas of responsible business conduct, including environmental impact, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

For Datacenter United, this Gold Medal is an important recognition of the work being done across the organisation to integrate sustainability, compliance and continuous improvement into daily operations.

Operating critical digital infrastructure comes with a clear responsibility. Data centers need to support the growing demand for secure and reliable digital services, while also managing their environmental and social impact in a structured and transparent way.

This result confirms that operational excellence and sustainable development can reinforce each other.

Strong performance across four sustainability themes

The EcoVadis assessment evaluates performance across four key categories. Datacenter United achieved the following scores:

  • Environment: 95/100

  • Ethics: 89/100

  • Labour & Human Rights: 76/100

  • Sustainable Procurement: 75/100

The strong environmental score reflects the continued focus on energy efficiency, environmental policies, renewable energy, reporting and responsible resource management across the organisation.

The ethics score also underlines the importance of governance, information security, responsible business conduct and clear internal policies — all essential elements for a company operating critical infrastructure.

Sustainability in critical digital infrastructure

As Belgium’s only fully independent operator of a nationwide network of regional data centers, Datacenter United plays a role in supporting the digital resilience of businesses, public organisations and society.

This responsibility goes beyond uptime and technical performance. It also includes:

  • reducing environmental impact where possible;

  • maintaining high standards for governance and compliance;

  • investing in secure and reliable infrastructure;

  • improving transparency through structured reporting;

  • working with partners and suppliers in a responsible way;

  • and embedding sustainability into everyday decision-making.

The EcoVadis Gold Medal reflects progress in these areas, but also provides a clear framework for further improvement.

A collective achievement

This result is the outcome of work across the entire organisation. It reflects the contribution of teams involved in operations, compliance, reporting, certifications, procurement, infrastructure, customer service and daily facility management.

Every improvement, process, policy and operational decision contributes to the broader ESG approach of Datacenter United.

A sincere thank you goes to all employees, customers, partners and suppliers who contribute to this journey.

Continuing the journey

While the Gold Medal is an important milestone, it is not an endpoint. The EcoVadis scorecard also highlights areas where further progress remains possible, particularly in strengthening documentation, reporting and sustainable procurement practices.

Datacenter United will continue to build on this foundation and use the findings to further improve its ESG approach in the coming years.

For us, sustainability is not a separate ambition. It is part of how we build, operate and improve critical digital infrastructure.

Connected. Certified. Committed.
