Datacenter United announces EUR 120 million funding to enable sustainable, AI-ready growth 

Antwerp, 30 September 2025 - Datacenter United, the only Belgian data center operator with a nationwide network of 14 data centers spread across 12 locations, today announces a financing of EUR 120 million, to which an additional EUR 50 million of capacity may be added via an accordion facility. 

The funds, which come from long-term financing by a consortium of banks, will be used for capacity expansion and sustainability projects. With this investment, Datacenter United is preparing its infrastructure for high-density workloads and the rapidly growing demand for computing power for AI applications.

Capacity expansion and AI-ready infrastructure   

  

Capacity is being significantly expanded in Antwerp, Brussels, Zaventem, Ghent, Oostkamp, Mouscron and Hasselt. Strategic sites are being prepared for high-density racks and AI-capable applications. This will enable Datacenter United to provide customers throughout Belgium with scalable solutions. 

  

  

Sustainability and circular initiatives 

  

Several million euros are being specifically allocated to sustainability projects, including:  

  • Solar panels and new cooling systems that improve energy efficiency  
  • Targeting improved energy performance consistent with EU climate and energy objectives by 2030. 
  • Residual heat projects in collaboration with local authorities in Antwerp, Evere and Machelen.  
  • Complete recycling and reuse of e-waste and circular materials in expansions.  
  • Community impact through training and internships in collaboration with Syntra, introducing dozens of young people to technology and sustainability every year.    

In addition, Datacenter United is committed to annual ESG reporting and participation in international frameworks such as the Climate Neutral Data Center Pact (CNDCP) and  the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which make climate targets concrete and measurable.
