Datacenter United

From baseline to
sustainable
value creation

Datacenter United’s Sustainability Report 2025 provides insight into our environmental impact, social indicators, governance and main sustainability priorities. It builds on the 2024 baseline and uses the available data to support more focused decision-making toward 2030.

Reporting scope 2025

The reporting period runs from January 1 through December 31, 2025 and covers Datacenter United’s Belgian activities under its operational control. The scope includes 13 operational data centers across 11 locations. Four of these data centers were added to the reporting scope during 2025 and are therefore included for ten months rather than for the full calendar year. Mouscron is excluded because the site was not operational during the reporting period.

The 2025 figures consequently reflect a larger operational platform than the 2024 baseline, while not every data center is represented for the same number of months. Absolute figures for electricity, greenhouse gas emissions, water, and other environmental indicators are therefore not fully comparable with 2024. Data coverage may also vary by indicator and is explained in more detail in the full Sustainability Report.

Measuring our environmental impact

Energy use is the main driver of DCU’s reported carbon footprint. DCU monitors PUE by site and optimizes cooling, airflow, monitoring, and operating settings. Water use, waste, and other environmental indicators are tracked separately, while data quality continues to improve.

Energy efficiency

PUE is monitored at site level to identify opportunities in cooling, airflow, monitoring and operational settings.

Solar energy

Antwerp and Oostkamp have a combined installed solar capacity of 821.2 kWp. No fully validated production data is available for 2025.

Water

Reported water consumption in 2025 was 2,773 m³. Site-level data coverage will be further standardized.

Circularity and waste

12.79 metric tons of waste were recorded in 2025, of which 52.1% was recycled.

People as the foundation of reliable infrastructure

Safe and reliable data centers depend on skilled people. Training, safety, knowledge sharing and equal opportunities support a resilient organization.

Embedding accountability in policies and processes

Codes of conduct, risk management, audits, certifications, and improved ESG data support transparent decision-making. In its procurement practices, DCU adopts a circular-first approach, lifecycle thinking, and local and responsible sourcing.

External assessment and certification

ISO certification, the EcoVadis rating, and SBTi validation provide external reference points for DCU’s sustainability approach.

Sustainable procurement

The Sustainable Procurement Policy introduces ESG criteria for supplier selection and prioritizes refurbished or remanufactured IT equipment where suitable.

Code of Conduct

The employee Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for integrity and ethical behavior.

Risk Management

Site-level environmental risk assessments and periodic review processes are being further developed.

Looking ahead

The 2025 data provides a clearer basis for the next steps: further improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, strengthening site-level data, and embedding sustainability more systematically in procurement, risk management, and decision-making.
