Due to continued growth as well as several large projects, we are looking for a person with a technical and management background to join our team full-time for this versatile position as Operations Manager.
 

Department Operations

Place within the organisation

Position (OM) is a corporate operations function. Position reports directly to the COO and indirectly to the CEO. The direct reports to this position are Service Delivery Leads, Facility Leads and Project Leads. Internal contact is within the operation department over the different locations including support for Sales, Marketing and HR. External contact is with
auditors, suppliers and customers. Position is part of the Management Team. Position could be an approved service provider.

Purpose of the function

To manage the operations of the Datacenter United group for the appointed locations by improving the knowledge of the operations team and by improving the technical installation, this to ensure customer satisfaction is maximised.

Areas of responsibility

Operations Management:

  • Assist on a daily basis with datacenter operations.

  • Ensures operation teams is motivated and dedicated with clear objectives.

  • Manage the leads of the divisions (service delivery, facility & projects) directly and more indirectly the datacenter operators and contractors.

  • Report the performance of teams and facilities.

  • Constantly develop and optimise the position as well as the complete operations team.

  • Manage holidays and standby within the operations team.

  • Act as second pair of eyes for the COO for the appointed locations.

  • Take an advisory role on technical matters for the Management Team.


Support for Facility Management:

  • Support facility by follow up and coordinate their activities.

  • Ensure that maintenance planning and procedures are in time in place, that HVAC- and power monitoring is in place and manage upgrades where needed.

  • Support operations by integrating common systems that can be used over all sites.

  • Support facility with their Opex, Capex and their requested reports as and when required.

  • Ensure quality of facility works.

  • Evaluate on regular base the efficiency of the datacenter and manage corrections in agreement with operations and facilities in case deviations are noticed.


Support for Service Delivery Management:

  • Support service delivery design and implementation of customer requests as and when required.

  • Act as technical expert for sales and in negotiations.

  • Support the Management Team by customer bids.

  • Support to tenders when requested and required.

  • Act as technical and operational interface between Datacenter United and customers in case Service Delivery Leads needs it.


Support for Project Management:

  • Engineer necessary solutions to ensure the risk of downtime is limited to the best possible minimum.

  • Come up with ideas for improvement and purpose the plan for execution.

  • Design and define all components of the projects, make sure to buy them on the best conditions and get approval from the Management Team.

  • Manage, support and follow up sub-contractors and own staff by executing approved solutions.

  • Use technical expertise and experience to come up with methods of bringing the cost down in projects as well as for the electricity bill.

  • Come up with ideas for improving reaching of the SLA standards more easily.

  • Suggest and manage corrective actions in agreement with operations and facility.

  • Design solution for possible upgrades and build outs.

  • Use technical expertise and experience to design efficiency improvement projects and manage them in agreement with operations and facilities.


Support for Process Management:

  • Ensure alignment with external regulations.

  • Develop and implement business process guidelines for aspects such as trouble-shooting, change management, dedicated follow-up of activities and timely status reporting.

  • Support management by timely updating their quality systems to reach their certificates.


Experience, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Higher educated in technical field or equivalent.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as engineer in electro technical environment.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as engineer in industrial / mechanical technical environment.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project management.

  • Datacenter facility experience.

  • Fluent in Dutch and English.

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • Excellent people management skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Google knowledge.

  • Accurate.

  • Proactive.

  • Stress-resilient.
