Sustainable data center management in line with the European Code of Conduct

At Datacenter United, energy efficiency is structurally integrated into the design and operation of our data centers. As a participant in the European Code of Conduct for Data Centres, we commit to applying recognised best practices that reduce energy consumption and improve the efficiency of our infrastructure.

This commitment not only supports our own sustainability objectives, but also provides customers with transparency and predictability in their infrastructure choices.

What is the EU Code of Conduct?

The EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres is a voluntary initiative of the European Commission that supports data center operators in improving energy efficiency. The code sets out guidelines for both technical installations and operational processes, with the aim of controlling energy consumption per IT load without compromising availability or performance.

As a participant, Datacenter United applies these guidelines in a structured manner and follows the recommended reporting and evaluation processes.

Energy efficiency in daily operations

At Datacenter United, the principles of the Code of Conduct translate into concrete decisions in the design, operation and monitoring of our data centers. Energy consumption is actively tracked and optimised as part of day-to-day operations.

This includes, among other things:

  • Efficient UPS and cooling infrastructure

  • Use of free cooling and heat recovery where feasible

  • Continuous monitoring of energy consumption through management systems

  • Avoidance of overdimensioning through well-considered architecture

This approach helps limit waste while maintaining stable performance.

What does this mean for your organisation?

Choosing a data center that participates in the EU Code of Conduct supports organisations that value sustainability, transparency and governance.

In practice, this means:

  • Better insight into the energy performance of the infrastructure

  • Support for ESG and sustainability reporting

  • Improved control over energy-related risks and costs

  • Demonstrable commitment to responsible infrastructure management

Part of a broader sustainability approach

At Datacenter United, participation in the EU Code of Conduct is not a standalone initiative, but part of a broader approach to energy efficiency, sustainability and controlled growth. Combined with certifications such as ISO 14001 and EcoVadis, this participation contributes to a coherent and future-oriented data center strategy.
